I started by accepting that humans are Souls who have chosen to have a Human experience on this planet called Earth where they come in as babies, and will learn how things are done. It is a material world and exists of opposites like night and day, cold and warm, dark and light. It’s a place where we learn to be mindful, e.g. if we don’t watch where we’re going we may trip and fall.
As a human we will experience similar opposites in emotions like joy-sadness, anger-fear trust-distrust, surprise and anticipation, even disgust and happiness. The brain creates these emotions as a response to something/someone in the environment and we experience them as a feeling. The point is for us to become aware how our bodies move in this physical space as well as how we mature morally by recognizing our feelings, name them for what they are and learn to take action accordingly, e.g. if you hear that you unintentionally hurt someone you might feel sorry, go and see that person, apologize and talk it out. Your body is the device that records everything, the vehicle in which you travel and the instrument through which you express your life. Listen to it.
Since we, as adults, are supposed to have clocked up a bit of experience already, we are considered the ideal guides, as parents, to introduce new little Souls-in-human-form and show how things work in this world, starting with the culture we belong to. Just look at what and how we do things on a daily basis and try to be conscious about it, for this is the time that we can make changes for the better if we choose to do so, even within each culture.
Remember that babies, toddlers and young children observe everything you do, everything, and that they will start simply by copying you without much understanding. They see, hear and copy. For example, if you swear every time you drop something, your child will learn to swear every time s/he drops something as well for that seems the way it is done as far as the child can tell.
On becoming a parent we are given a chance to reset our own Self. How? By becoming conscious of our own behaviour. What we wish our child to learn and absorb from us we need to demonstrate through our own behaviour and use of language.
Begin by thinking of yourself as a friendly and kind person, because in your heart you are, and act accordingly every day. Practice makes Permanent.
Try it. It’ll make you smile.
